Camilo Garzón ’15 recently became the AskNature program director at the Biomimicry Institute and presented at the 36th annual Bioneers Conference.
Philosophy and religious studies double major Camilo Garzón ’15 recently represented Biomimicry, a nonprofit based in Montana, at the 2025 Bioneers Conference hosted in University of California, Berkeley. with the goal of helping solve humanity’s biggest challenges through the adoption of biomimicry (nature-inspired innovation) in education, culture, and industry—
Garzón participated in a panel presentation titled “Bringing Biomimicry into Action,” an action-based workshop designed to engage in purposeful, facilitated discussions on key topics connected to the core tenants of Biomimicry. The session also provided practical strategies and insights to help participants apply Biomimicry principles to their own work.
Garzón leads AskNature’s platform, program, and publication efforts to expand access to nature-inspired innovation. A writer, editor, filmmaker, multimedia producer, interdisciplinary artist, and award-winning poet, he works in a wide range of disciplines and media, including science storytelling on such varied topics as: culinary biodiversity; leaf-cutter ants; the decolonization of space exploration; and Colombian volcanology, paleontology, and Indigenous hydraulic systems.
The annual Bioneers Conference gathers visionary movement leaders, activists, and professionals to explore innovative, nature-inspired solutions for today's pressing environmental and social challenges.
