Rollins has recently been designated as a Best College for Commuters for 2025 by Best Workplaces for Commuters (BWC) in the colleges and universities category. The recognition spotlights Rollins as a leader in promoting efficient and cost-effective transportation options to employees and students alongside on-campus resources and support.

BWC is the national authority on recognizing and assisting workplaces that provide exceptional commuter benefits to employees. More than a recognition program, BWC provides the necessary assistance to create employer-provided transportation programs and offers tailored support for members.

“The 2025 Best Workplace for Commuters are part of an outstanding group of organizations transforming transportation,” says Julie Bond, BWC program manager. “In today’s evolving workplace, innovative employers understand that comprehensive transportation options are essential for employee satisfaction and building vibrant communities. They serve as an inspiring model for organizations nationwide.”

Partnering with the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT)’s commuter assistance program, ReThink Your Commute, to address gaps in commuter student retention and advocate for sustainable commuting practices, the Student Outreach & Resource Center has demonstrated an exceptional commitment to providing efficient transportation options that contribute to the overall success of commuter students.

“Commuter support has really grown at Rollins within the past academic year, so my campus experience has become more inclusive with more offerings and places to connect,” says Rachelle English ’27, a business management major and host of Rush Hour Radio, a commuter-run morning show on WPRK.

The College has developed a suite of new programs and resources to directly address the biggest challenges facing commuter students—from feelings of isolation to transportation barriers and a lack of tailored engagement. In addition to Rush Hour Radio, which takes song requests and does meal voucher giveaways, initiatives like the Foxbike Program and Bicycle Shop, commuter lounge with free snacks and essentials, and the ReThink app for sustainable transit all work to build community, boost accessibility, and create a more inclusive campus experience for commuters at Rollins.

“This recognition underscores our unwavering commitment to providing exceptional services and support to our commuter students and affirms our ongoing efforts to create a commuter-friendly environment that enhances the overall college experience,” says Michelle Perez, executive director of retention and student success. “Commuters are a vital part of our campus community, and the work we’ve done ensures that those who travel to campus each day have the resources, support, and infrastructure they need to thrive—both academically and personally.”
